Effective 10.1.16, The State of CT, Department of Public Health requires mandatory infection control course based on a dental setting, once in a license monitoring cycle. The federal government requires an annual OSHA/Infection control class. Check with your state's requirements for CE credit acceptance.

This presentation on OSHA, Infection Control with Bloodborne Pathogens and PPE training promotes insight for employers and employees to understand potential risk and develop safety strategies essential to comply with OSHA and CDC guidelines. Join this seminar to review mandated and update Hazmat guidelines which should already be implemented in your practice. 

There will be a discussion on the latest policies for record keeping and chemical safety.  A description on what should be included in your office exposure control and post exposure plans will be included. Several new products will be introduced that assist with optimal infection control procedures as well as promote an eco-friendly environment.

Course Objectives:  Participants will:·
  • distinguish areas of potential injury in the workplace.
  • develop strategies to reduce the risk of injury and disease transmission according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • design and implement policies required for Exposure and Post Exposure Control Plans for their practice.
  • report the Hazmat guidelines and how to implement them.
  • review sterilization and lab areas, storage and disposal of PPE.
  • recall the process of disease transmission and contaminated waste.
 
Objectives: Upon completion of this program participants will:
  • become familiar with the required strategies to meet HIPAA requirements
  • identify and implement policies and forms to ensure HIPAA compliance
  • identify and evaluate scenarios in which breaches can occur
  • recognize the importance of team training and compliance
Speaker: Cathie Collier, RDH, B.Ed., MS 

Cathie is trained and certified in Occupational and Bloodborne Pathogens and lectures on this topic frequently. Through her 30 plus years as an educator she has presented programs for hygienists throughout the United States. Cathie's recent experiences include being an educational consultant and national lecture for PDT Instruments. She currently teaches clinical dental hygiene at Goodwin College and is a CPR faculty trainer for the Emergency Care Institute. She received her bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene Education from Fones School of Dental Hygiene where she served as clinic coordinator.
Caution: ADACERP guidelines states that participants must be aware that there may be potential risks of using limited knowledge when incorporating techniques and procedures into practice when they have not received supervised clinical experience or demonstrate competency.
