This two hour recorded webinar is divided into understanding the history, biology and new scientific applications of the plant for medicinal purposes as well as updates for THC and CBD use in the age of COVID19.

Now that medical and recreational marijuana is legal in several states, your patients may note it on their  medical history.  
What does this mean to you as a clinician or a staff member in a dental practice or public health setting? Cannabis, marijuana, dope, Mary Jane ,’s dental professional has to include a better understanding of this subject area to manage risk and improve outcomes in today’s dental patient. 

Course ObjectivesParticipants will:

Understand the history, botany and physiology of Cannabis 
Relate THC and its effects on the body including oral health 
Relate CBD and its effects on the body including oral health 
Understand legal and professional safeguards as well as new uses of Cannabis in the age of COVID19

Tyrone Fernando Rodriguez, Sc.B., D.D.S.received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience from Brown University. His further study includes a Masters of Arts in Teaching Program, Rice University; Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, and postgraduate Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  Dr. Rodriguez also achieved an AAPD-Samuel D. Harris Fellowship, Chicago, IL

Dr. Rodriguez is one of twelve dentists selected by the ADA to be a spokesperson on dental related topics. His former career positions include faculty at the University of Washington, Pediatric Director Northwest AEGD and Pediatric Director, YALE New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Rodriguez's work experience with children who have special needs is extensive and his ability to address this topic as an educator and clinician with expertise is the result of extensive and varied experience with diverse populations.
