This 3 part comprehensive review course is designed to assist the experienced dental assistant. Course content and study guidance provide one of the many available resources to use for test preparation. Depending on the experience and knowledge of the participant, it is strongly recommended to use several resources to prepare for the exam.

  5. describe safety measures for the patient for radiation protection

  8. identify the benefits and disadvantages of digital vs film technique and exposure 
  9. understand types of radiographic surveys related to patient selection
  10. identify the use and benefits of extraoral projections
  11. recognize components of processing and mounting film
  12. differentiate radiolucent and radiopaque oral structure
  13. understand the concepts of contrast and density
  14. identify dental, head and neck anatomy
  15. identify radiographic image exposure errors
  16. understand panoramic exposure and identify anatomy
  17. recognize 3D (cone beam) imaging
  18. evaluate different types of dental materials by degrees of radiopacity
  19. understand the importance of infection prevention
  20. identify common errors in processing film
  21. understand test taking strategies and apply it to the RHS exam
  22. take practice exam and self correct by using reference materials
