This live course introduces Laser Dentistry and provides information to understand how lasers work. The participant will also view procedures on how lasers function for the dental practice. From this presentation, dental professionals will be comfortable identifying what lasers are used for, how to use them safely, and discover how to find additional training and ALD certification.

A comprehensive course manual is provided at the course. Safety glasses will be provided and Lasers will be demonstrated and practiced for the hands on portion. 

PLS follows current CDC Guidelines for health and safety of all participants. Class size is limited.

Course Objectives:  The Participant will

  • discuss the fundamentals of lasers, including the production, characteristics, delivery systems, and emission modes of light
  • understand the effects of lasers on tissue
  • identify device characteristics and clinical applications
  • relate the role of a Laser Safety Officer to laser safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • identify how to operate laser instrumentation
  • understand the fundamentals of laser physics
  • identify laser delivery systems and emission modes
  • demonstrate laser effects on tissue
  • develop skills by using a laser in a lab setting
  • Participants receive ALD Laser Certification upon completion

Note: 12 hour training is required by Texas,  Details for ALD certification will be provided at the course.

Speaker: Angie Wallace, RDH

Angie Wallace, RDH has been a clinical hygienist for over 30 years. She is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), where she earned her educator status, Advanced Level Proficiency, and received her ALD Recognized Course Provider 2007 and her Mastership with ALD in 2008. Angie currently serves as co-chair for Education and Regulatory Affairs for the ALD Board of Directors and serves on the Auxiliary Committee. She was the recipient of the 2014 John G. Sulewski, Distinguished Service Award from the Academy of Laser Dentistry and has been recognized as a worldwide speaker as an In-Office Laser Consultant with Academy of Laser Dentistry.
