This *interactive on demand webinar provides a practical update for dental team members on OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety responsibilities in the dental practice. The course reviews annual training expectations, including bloodborne pathogen standards, PPE use, hazard communication, SDS requirements, chemical labeling, exposure control plans, post-exposure reporting, emergency preparedness, fire safety, workplace violence, HIPAA privacy and security, PHI protection, electronic safeguards, ethics, fraud prevention, and incident reporting. Through dental-specific examples and compliance scenarios, participants will learn how to identify common risks, follow required protocols, protect patient information, maintain a safer workplace, and support office readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
Course Objectives:
- Define OSHA and HIPAA requirements applicable to dental practices.
- Identify at least three common workplace hazards and compliance risks found in dental settings.
- Explain appropriate responses to bloodborne pathogen exposures and needlestick injuries.
- Describe OSHA requirements for hazard communication, sharps safety, and workplace safety.
- Recognize situations that may constitute HIPAA violations or breaches of protected health information.
- Demonstrate appropriate responses to workplace safety, privacy, and security incidents.
- Apply workplace strategies that promote compliance, patient privacy, and a safe dental practice environment.
